History

Every church is formed in the heart of God.

In 1976 while still serving as a priest in the Anglican Diocese of Pretoria, the Lord revealed to Allan and Charl (Charlene) Watt that he wanted to plant a church in the area in which Centurion Vineyard is situated now.

In September 1983, twelve people joined Allan & Charl to pray concerning God’s vision of a church in the Wierda Park/Raslouw area.   The first official service was held in November 1983 in their rented home.

As the church grew we rented the hall at Springvale Primary School.   This facility was used for about 10 years.

Initially the name of the church was Manna Ministries & Assembly and we were affiliated to the Baptist Union of Southern Africa.

In October 1987 the church purchased the property on which the church facilities now stand.

In February 1992 we started erecting the building we now use as our church auditorium.   This was done by the members themselves on Saturdays so it took a long time – over 2 ½ years.   The money for the building was not available at the beginning, but as it was needed, God supplied and we did not have to go into debt at all – praise God! The building was completed in November 1994 and was dedicated on 19 Nov 1994.

In January 1998 we started building our second building on the property – to be used as a hall/classrooms.   Once again we were building as money became available.

In 1999 the church became affiliated to the Association of Vineyard Churches of Southern Africa.   The name was then changed from Manna Ministries & Assembly to Centurion Vineyard Christian Fellowship.

Due to the fact that there are always more people who need to hear about Jesus and be incorporated into His Church, in 2013 we began the extension to the initial church building to increase seating to 800 people.   God is growing the congregation and we need to make room for all the new folk He is bringing in.
